Cabinet Discusses Laws on Lost Property and Regional Cooperation Efforts

The Qatari Cabinet, led by Prime Minister H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, approved a draft law on lost property and unclaimed money, commended justice and archives strategies for 2025-2030, and expressed hopes to enhance support for Palestinian rights while addressing local and international agreements.
In a recent Cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, H E Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, the Qatari Cabinet expressed optimism about the outcomes of the Extraordinary Arab Summit in Cairo. They emphasized the need to bolster the Arab position against the displacement of Palestinian citizens and focused on efforts to end the Gaza conflict, lift the siege, and aid in the region’s reconstruction.
The Cabinet applauded the strategic initiatives launched by the Ministry of Justice for 2025-2030, designed to improve the legal sector and judicial services. These measures aim to foster investment opportunities and develop skilled human resources within the legal and judicial framework.
Furthermore, a National Archives Strategy for 2025-2030 was also recognized by the Cabinet, focusing on safeguarding Qatar’s historical legacy through digitisation and community engagement. The Cabinet approved various draft laws, including one regulating lost property and unclaimed money, which ensures the return of these items to their rightful owners.
Additional resolutions included measures to protect public electrical and water facilities, a governmental agreement for employing Sierra Leonean workers in Qatar, and an MoU for cooperation against money laundering with Uzbekistan. Reports from Qatari participation in the Hajj Conference and the Oman-Qatar Economic Forum were also reviewed and addressed accordingly.
The recent Cabinet meeting highlighted significant strides towards regional peace and development, notably concerning the Palestinian situation and advancing Qatar’s legal framework. Strategic plans for the Ministry of Justice and National Archives reaffirm Qatar’s commitment to improving legal services and preserving its heritage.
