The coast guard actively participated in rescue operations using inflatable boats. Residents reported alarming conditions, including Flavia Viera Romero, who noted that approximately 1.5 meters of water flooded her home, requiring her to seek refuge with her family in a truck.

The Jose Penna hospital, a key medical facility, also faced significant challenges as floodwaters intruded into its wards, leading to the emergency evacuation of patients and staff. Affected individuals, such as nurses and doctors, were seen evacuating with sick infants in tow. The streets of Bahia Blanca, which slant towards the sea, contributed to the flood’s intensity, as tidal waters exacerbated the situation by sweeping away vehicles and debris.

Bahia Blanca has unfortunately experienced numerous climate disasters, including a deadly windstorm in December 2023, which claimed 13 lives and caused extensive destruction in the area.
