Qatari PM Warns of Water Crisis if Iran’s Nuclear Sites are Attacked

Qatar’s Prime Minister warns that if Iran’s nuclear sites are attacked, Persian Gulf countries could run out of water in three days due to environmental contamination. Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, stated that a potential attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities could have severe repercussions, leading to a water crisis in the Persian Gulf region. In an interview with American commentator Tucker Carlson, he indicated that countries such as Qatar, Kuwait, and the UAE could face water shortages within three days due to contamination of the water supply from the Persian Gulf.

Sheikh Mohammed expressed that any attack on the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant would result in catastrophic environmental contamination, making the water untenable for all Gulf states. He remarked, “This would be basically entirely contaminated…The whole country would run out of water in three days.”

The Qatari Prime Minister also acknowledged Qatar’s past conflicts with Iran, specifically mentioning their engagements in Syria. However, he emphasized the importance of maintaining bilateral relations, stating that a US congressman had suggested severing ties with Iran.
