Central African Republic Graduates New Soldiers Trained by Rwanda Defence Force
The Central African Republic Armed Forces graduated 438 soldiers, including 38 women, after training by the Rwanda Defence Force. This program is part of ongoing cooperation aimed at strengthening CAR’s military capabilities. The ceremony, attended by top officials, highlighted the positive impact of RDF’s training on FACA’s ability to address security challenges.
On March 7, the Central African Republic Armed Forces (FACA) celebrated the graduation of 438 new soldiers, including 38 women, following a six-month military training program conducted by the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF). This initiative is part of a broader defense cooperation agreement between Rwanda and the Central African Republic aimed at strengthening regional security.
The RDF has previously trained numerous soldiers from CAR; the initial group of 512 graduates completed training on November 24, 2023, while a subsequent group of 634 graduated on August 5, 2024. Training efforts are ongoing to develop a well-equipped quick reaction force essential for addressing the country’s security needs and enhancing overall military readiness.
The graduation ceremony took place at the Camp Kassaï barracks in Bangui, officiated by Prime Minister Félix Moloua on behalf of President Faustin Archange Touadera. Key attendees included Maj Gen Vincent Nyakarundi, the RDF Army Chief of Staff, and Brig Gen Ronald Rwivanga, the Defence Spokesperson, alongside other high-ranking military officials.
Prime Minister Moloua praised the military collaboration, noting its positive impact on reinforcing FACA’s capabilities. He expressed satisfaction with the training outcomes, highlighting FACA’s readiness to protect its nation and citizens. General Mamadou also acknowledged the significance of RDF’s training in enhancing FACA’s ability to address security threats effectively.
Maj Gen Nyakarundi reiterated that the extensive military training stems from a shared vision between CAR and Rwanda’s leadership, aimed at creating a cadre of professional soldiers prepared to safeguard the nation’s sovereignty. He reaffirmed RDF’s commitment to support FACA through ongoing training and development initiatives, extending beyond fundamental military skills.
During the ceremony, graduates demonstrated the skills they acquired over the training period, including proficiency in various weaponry, showcasing their readiness to contribute to CAR’s defense.
The graduation of 438 new soldiers marks a significant step in strengthening the Central African Republic’s military capabilities through training provided by the Rwanda Defence Force.
