The Ministry of Water Resources indicates a significant wave of torrents from Iran is enhancing the Tigris River, with flows exceeding 25 cubic meters per second due to recent rainfall. Authorities are monitoring this influx to optimize water usage.

The Ministry of Water Resources has reported the arrival of a new wave of torrents enhancing the Tigris River, originating from Iran. According to Engineer Saadi Mahdi Saleh, head of the Water Resources Division in Ali al-Gharbi, this influx is attributed to significant rainfall over the past two days at the Iraq-Iran border.

The torrents are flowing from numerous valleys including Wadi al-Jifta, Wadi Talil, Wadi al-Za’faran, and Wadi Jabab, channeling into the northern Shamshir outlet. The estimated water flow is exceeding 25 cubic meters per second, with expectations for increased flow in the near future.

Additional smaller torrents have been noted arriving through Al-Jafaj in Wasit Governorate, approximating 5 to 6 cubic meters per second via Wadi Al-Jalbab. Meanwhile, the Shamshir smuggler in Ali Al-Gharbi has recorded excellent flow rates of 25 cubic meters per second, which are continuously rising. The relevant authorities are monitoring these developments to optimize water usage and enhance overall water reserves.

In summary, the recent surge of torrents influenced by rainfall in the border areas between Iraq and Iran is significantly benefitting the Tigris River’s water levels. With flows noted at over 25 cubic meters per second, authorities are keenly observing the situation to maximize the potential utility of this precious resource.
