The inflation of white spirits in 2022 was primarily influenced by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which disrupted grain supply used in vodka and gin production.

Namibia ranks seventh globally in beer consumption, with an estimated average annual per-capita consumption of 85 liters in 2022. Beer represents a significant portion of the Namibia Consumer Price Index (NCPI), accounting for 7% of total household expenditure, while the overall alcoholic consumption contributes 10%. Notably, these patterns vary regionally; northern Namibians allocate 8.8% of their total expenditure to beer and 0.6% to white spirits.
