BPR Bank Rwanda Commemorates 50 Years and Supports Women’s Empowerment

BPR Bank Rwanda celebrated its 50th anniversary along with International Women’s Day in Nyagatare, reaffirming its commitment to women’s empowerment. The event featured a ‘Night Run’ promoting health among women and discussions on financial inclusion and leadership. BPR Bank Rwanda commemorated its 50-year legacy alongside International Women’s Day (IWD) in Nyagatare on March 7. This event signified the bank’s enduring commitment to empowering women, particularly in the eastern region, where its first branch was established in Nkamba.

The celebrations included participation in Nyagatare District’s ‘Night Run,’ aimed at promoting health and wellness among women of all ages. This initiative unified local women, district leaders, and BPR Bank customers in celebrating the strength and resilience of women in the community.

Furthermore, BPR Bank hosted a dinner attended by key officials, including the Managing Director and the Mayor of Nyagatare District. This gathering provided a platform to discuss the importance of women’s empowerment, the role of financial services in community development, and the support for women’s leadership across Rwanda.

Patience Mutesi, the Managing Director of BPR Bank, spoke about the significance of celebrating International Women’s Day in Nyagatare as they observe their 50th anniversary. She emphasized, “Marking this milestone in Nyagatare is a powerful reminder of our dedication to empowering women and investing in our communities.”

Mayor Stephen Gasana recognized IWD’s role in highlighting women’s contributions to positive change. He stated, “We are deeply grateful to BPR Bank for its unwavering commitment to empowering the women of Nyagatare.” The event concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering inclusivity and promoting gender equality in Nyagatare and across Rwanda.
