In his remarks, Professor Murwira stated, “We discussed joining economic groupings, and one of the economic groupings is BRICS, which is basically made up of the Russian Federation, India, China, Brazil, South Africa, plus other countries that have recently joined.” He further elaborated that engaging in such economic partnerships is essential for Zimbabwe’s growth, underscoring the idea that trade among nations facilitates economic expansion.
Under the leadership of President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Zimbabwe is actively seeking membership in BRICS. Professor Murwira noted that the bloc presents a vital opportunity for the nation to foster economic growth and stability, asserting, “Peace is fostered through economic development, and BRICS is one of those groupings which Zimbabwe wishes to be part of.”

He remarked, “What we have done with the Russian Federation and many other countries is to coalesce around the idea of growing capabilities, and this comes through education, innovation, science, and technology.”
