Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has confirmed the delivery of a letter from U.S. President Donald Trump through an envoy from the United Arab Emirates. This information was shared by Araghchi via his Instagram account, where he mentioned meeting Mr. Anwar Gargash, the UAE’s diplomatic advisor, to discuss both bilateral relations and regional matters, during which the letter was received.
In a cabinet meeting earlier that day, Araghchi highlighted that while the letter had yet to arrive in Iran, an envoy from an Arab country was responsible for its delivery. The specific details of the letter remain confidential. Trump had previously asserted that he sent a letter to Ali Khamenei, Iran’s Supreme Leader, though Iranian officials, including Araghchi, have contested this claim.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei noted that a senior U.S. official contradicted Trump’s assertion by stating that although a letter was drafted, it was never sent.
