The Sudanese Armed Forces report that artillery shelling in El Fasher, allegedly by the RSF, has resulted in the deaths of ten civilians, including five children. The conflict escalates with military exchanges and claims of significant operational advances by the SAF, although humanitarian concerns grow as violence spreads and local security deteriorates.

In North Darfur, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) report that artillery shelling in El Fasher, allegedly carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), has resulted in the deaths of ten civilians, among whom are five children. This incident has heightened concerns over escalating violence, with both factions exchanging artillery and drone attacks. The SAF highlighted the grim statistics, emphasizing the urgent need for health care for the injured and addressing the prevailing anxiety within the community.

Furthermore, the SAF’s command announced that during an operation, they managed to shoot down seven drones targeting El Fasher, as part of a larger pattern of drone activity that peaked with over forty drone launches and numerous artillery shells fired towards the city. The military has made claims of significant advances against the RSF and has called for greater international control over drone proliferation and related technologies.

The intense military engagement includes the RSF’s shelling of El Fasher, which resulted in a tragic toll of ten civilian lives and numerous injuries. Concurrent military operations have seen the SAF successfully targeting RSF positions, damaging combat vehicles, and claiming the destruction of a supply convoy headed west of El Fasher, which included weaponry.

In addition to these military operations, the SAF reported successful recovery of several neighborhoods within El Fasher but raised concerns about rising crime rates, such as looting, in areas returned to their control. Local citizens have appealed for government intervention to restore order and security.

Amid ongoing clashes, Minni Minawi’s Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM) has accused the RSF of violent attacks in villages near Tawila locality, resulting in deaths and destruction. These claims highlight the ongoing humanitarian crisis and emphasize the urgency of addressing the situation. Despite attempts to verify the reports, responses from both the SAF and RSF remain limited.

The situation in North Darfur continues to deteriorate with increasing violence from the RSF and the resulting civilian casualties, including the death of five children. The SAF’s military operations against the RSF are intensifying, showcasing significant engagements and efforts to stabilize El Fasher. However, the humanitarian crisis exacerbated by rising insecurity and attacks on local villages underscores the dire need for international attention and intervention to mitigate further suffering.
