There are approximately 700,000 Israeli settlers residing in around 300 settlements within the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem, which have been established since the Israeli occupation began in 1967. It is important to note that, under international law, such settlement constructions are considered illegal.
Ganz emphasized the importance of cooperation with the UAE in enhancing settlements, stating that “the visit to the UAE is a testimony to regional change and the need for new thinking.” He asserted that collaboration amongst nations, grounded in mutual respect and acknowledgment of reality, is crucial for fortifying settlements and fostering a sustainable future for both countries.
He expressed gratitude to al-Nuaimi for his “warm and personal invitation” and for the “gracious hospitality” extended during their visit. Azoulay regarded this trip as a profound advancement in reinforcing settlements, noting, “It is incredible to see that there are courageous leaders who want to hear firsthand about our communities, towns and the development of the West Bank.” He mentioned encountering UAE leaders who shared his concerns regarding Hamas, Hezbollah, the Muslim Brotherhood, and Iran.
The delegation also articulated their support for opposing the Palestinian Authority’s educational curriculum, which they claim fosters animosity towards Jews. This perspective aligns with Israeli critiques of Palestinian textbooks that promote Palestinian statehood and patriotism.
