Interior Minister Receives Food Donations for Prisoners from HUDAI Foundation

The Interior Minister, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, received a food donation for prisoners from the HUDAI Foundation, emphasizing its role in inmate welfare. The foundation, known for humanitarian efforts in Ghana, also supports food distribution during Ramadan and has made significant contributions to infrastructure and education across the country.
The Minister for the Interior, Mr. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, recently received a significant donation of food supplies from the Human Development Association International (HUDAI) Foundation, a Turkish-based organization dedicated to humanitarian efforts in Ghana. This donation, aimed at supporting the Ghana Prisons Service, reflects the foundation’s annual commitment to charitable initiatives.
On March 14, 2025, essential food items such as rice, cooking oil, tomato paste, sugar, and spaghetti were presented to the minister. Expressing his appreciation on March 21, 2025, Mr. Mohammed-Mubarak acknowledged that such contributions effectively alleviate the challenges faced by inmates. He assured the public that the donated items would be used appropriately and encouraged other organizations to follow suit.
“Imprisonment is not a death sentence. Providing for inmates improves their well-being and aids in their rehabilitation,” he emphasized. Meanwhile, Abdurahim Yüce, the Project Coordinator for HUDAI Foundation, spoke on behalf of General Coordinator Remzi Şeker, reiterating the foundation’s commitment to serving the underprivileged with goodwill and a desire to positively impact their lives. He only requested prayers in return for their efforts.
As part of its Ramadan food distribution initiative, the HUDAI Foundation has successfully provided over 8,000 food packages to families, particularly those observing the fast. These packages included staple food items similar to those donated to prisoners, ensuring that underprivileged individuals receive much-needed support during the holy month.
The foundation has also marked its pivotal role in Ghana’s development, particularly concerning infrastructure, education, and humanitarian aid, with the construction of the Ghana National Mosque. This mosque, built on a 4.2-acre plot in Kanda, Accra, can accommodate 15,000 worshippers, making it the second-largest mosque in West Africa.
In addition to this religious facility, the HUDAI Foundation has engaged in various humanitarian projects, including the installation of clean water solutions across 16 regions of Ghana. Since 2019, it has been working towards its goal of constructing 100 boreholes in underprivileged communities, with significant progress in areas such as Tamale in the Northern Region. Moreover, it has also contributed to the educational landscape by building schools to support the government’s educational initiatives.
In summary, the recent donation by the HUDAI Foundation highlights the organization’s commitment to humanitarian efforts, particularly in supporting inmates in Ghana. The Interior Minister’s response underscores the importance of such contributions to rehabilitation. The foundation’s broader impact, including the provision of food packages during Ramadan and the development of infrastructure, reflects its dedication to serving underprivileged communities in Ghana.
