Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Ali Joho and Aden Duale urged the Muslim community at the Ibn Abbas Islamic Centre to unite, support the government, and acquire national IDs. They emphasized the importance of political participation and the potential for a significant voter impact in future elections. Local leaders pledged assistance for those lacking IDs and called for cohesive voting to support President Ruto’s agenda.
Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Ali Joho and Aden Duale recently advocated for unity among the Muslim community during the Third Annual Graduation ceremony at the Ibn Abbas Islamic Centre in Mombasa. They called for stronger support for the government and emphasized the importance of Muslims obtaining national Identity Cards.
CS Joho highlighted the need for the Muslim community’s active involvement in national politics and leadership. He noted the removal of additional vetting procedures for obtaining national IDs and encouraged community members to register as voters, asserting that their voting numbers could significantly impact future elections, including the potential election of a Muslim President in 2032.
Duale reassured the community that he and his fellow Cabinet Secretaries would work to prevent policies that could harm their interests. He pointed out that Muslims and pastoralist groups have the power to influence 20 counties and encouraged them to vote as a bloc to aid President Ruto’s re-election.
Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir acknowledged that the push for Muslim unity has raised concerns among some groups. He also pledged to help individuals secure their IDs and birth certificates with the assistance of Ward Administrators, promising to follow through with action.
Garissa Town MP Mohamed Dekow committed to mobilizing voters in North Eastern to ensure they are prepared for the 2027 elections. Additionally, Bura MP Yakub Adow urged Joho and Duale to provide political guidance for the Muslim community, stating that this government has notably championed Muslim rights. Nominated MP Abdisirat Ali remarked that opposition to President Ruto is tied to his advocacy for equality and fair resource distribution across the nation.
The appeal by Cabinet Secretaries Hassan Ali Joho and Aden Duale reinforces the significance of unity within the Muslim community in Kenya. Their emphasis on active political participation and the acquisition of national Identity Cards aims to empower the community and ensure their voices are heard in future elections. Furthermore, collaborations with local leaders to aid in documentation acquisition underlines a proactive approach to addressing community needs. The call for political guidance illustrates a responsive government committed to the well-being of its Muslim constituents.
