Raisina Dialogue 2023: Focus on Global Trade Policies and International Relations

The Raisina Dialogue, marking its 10th anniversary, is organized by India’s External Affairs Ministry and the Observer Research Foundation (ORF). This year, it has attracted representatives from over 120 countries, including various ministers, former heads of state, military leaders, and industry experts. The main topics of discussion will include the U.S. trade and security policies under the Trump administration, the reconfiguration of the global order, and ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and West Asia.
The event, commencing Monday, will witness participation from foreign ministers of 20 countries such as Ukraine, the Maldives, Nepal, and Norway. The theme for 2023 is ‘Kālachakra – People, Peace and Planet’. Key thematic discussions will revolve around politics, green solutions, digital advancements, trade practices, peace investment, and historical narratives.
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar engaged with New Zealand’s Prime Minister Chris Luxon on Sunday. Jaishankar noted his appreciation for Luxon’s commitment to enhancing the longstanding bilateral ties. The two leaders will convene to discuss and review their countries’ relations, emphasizing the commitment to collaborate across various sectors.
Additionally, India and New Zealand plan to resume negotiations for a comprehensive free trade agreement, as announced during a meeting between Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Todd McClay. Luxon highlighted plans to strengthen trade relations and security cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region during his visit, which aims to deepen India-New Zealand engagements. Trade between the nations was valued at $1.75 billion for the fiscal year 2023-24.
