Kazakh boxer Nazym Kyzaibay won her third world title at the 2025 IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships, becoming Kazakhstan’s first three-time boxing champion. Teammates Alua Balkibekova and Aida Abikeyeva also secured gold medals, while Viktoriya Grafeyeva and Natalya Bogdanova earned silver. Astana has marked a significant achievement as Kazakh boxer Nazym Kyzaibay triumphed at the 2025 International Boxing Association (IBA) Women’s World Boxing Championships held in Niš, Serbia, from March 9 to 16. Competing in the 48-kilogram weight category, Kyzaibay emerged victorious against Russia’s Iuliia Chumgalakova in the finals, securing her esteemed place in boxing history.

With this win, Kyzaibay has solidified her status as Kazakhstan’s first three-time world boxing champion, having previously claimed titles in 2014 and 2016. President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev extended his congratulations on this remarkable accomplishment, commending the national team’s stellar performance and expressing hopes for their continued success in future competitions.

In addition to Kyzaibay’s success, her teammate Alua Balkibekova captured her first world title in the 50-kilogram category by defeating Hu Meiyi of China. Moreover, Aida Abikeyeva contributed to Kazakhstan’s medal tally by clinching a third gold medal in the 63-kilogram final against Thailand’s Thananya Somnuek.

Kazakhstan’s delegation also featured Viktoriya Grafeyeva and Natalya Bogdanova, who earned silver medals in the 60-kilogram and 70-kilogram categories, respectively. Overall, Kazakhstan achieved a commendable third place in the championship rankings, with a total of five medals earned during the event.
