Reports indicate that the Trump administration aims to implement travel restrictions affecting 43 countries, categorized by severity into red, orange, and yellow lists.
Cambodia is among the 21 nations classified under the yellow category, which entails the least severe restrictions. Those in the red category will see 11 countries, including Afghanistan and Iran, completely banned from entering the United States. The orange category will enforce strict visa limitations on countries such as Belarus and Pakistan.
Countries on the yellow list have a 60-day elapsed time to alleviate the U.S. administration’s undisclosed “concerns,” which are believed to involve the deportation of Cambodians who have committed offenses in the U.S. Spokesperson Chum Sounry stated that Cambodia is actively seeking information through diplomatic channels and has yet to receive formal notifications regarding this case.
The Cambodian government has reaffirmed its commitment to facilitating the repatriation of its nationals facing removal. Sounry remarked on the close collaboration between the Cambodian foreign ministry, the Ministry of Interior, and U.S. authorities to expedite this process.
