During their discussion, Ambassador Sadykov detailed Kazakhstan’s policy on interreligious dialogue and the significance of the upcoming Congress scheduled for September 2025 in Astana. In response, Secretary-General Tadele expressed gratitude for the invitation and affirmed Ethiopia’s participation, applauding Kazakhstan’s commitment to fostering peace, tolerance, and dialogue among diverse religious and cultural representatives.
Concluding the meeting, Tadele conveyed the Ethiopian delegation’s hopes for the Congress, emphasizing its potential as a crucial platform for promoting constructive dialogue and enhancing global interreligious relationships. Ethiopia, with a rich cultural and religious history—Christianity since the 4th century and Islam since the 7th century—hosts a diverse population of over 125 million, comprising 44% Christians, 34% Muslims, and 23% Evangelicals.
To foster unity among the primary religious groups, the Inter-Religious Council of Ethiopia (IRCE) was established in 2010. This organization works to support religious freedom, harmony, and well-being among Ethiopia’s diverse communities.
