President John Dramani Mahama will attend the Black Stars’ match against Chad, marking the first attendance by an incumbent president in years. He expressed support for the team and highlighted the need for collaboration to boost performance, as the Black Stars aim to advance in their qualifying group.

President John Dramani Mahama has confirmed his attendance at the Black Stars’ FIFA World Cup qualifier match against Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium this Friday. During his recent visit to the team’s training session, he conveyed his nervousness regarding watching live football, yet expressed strong support for the team.

Mahama stated, “I’ll take time off and watch the game myself. Even though my heart is not very good at watching soccer, I will brave it. They say I should eat before I go and sit down. And my hope is that you would justify my sitting and watching you guys. The whole of Ghana is going to be behind you, and I’m sure that you can make it.”

He emphasized the commitment to support not only the Black Stars but all junior national teams to ensure they can perform at their best. Mahama’s attendance is particularly significant as it will be the first time in years that an incumbent president has attended a match at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Currently, the Black Stars find themselves third in Group I with nine points and are keen to secure maximum points against Chad on March 21, followed by a match against Madagascar on March 24 in Morocco.

In summary, President John Dramani Mahama’s forthcoming attendance at the Black Stars game highlights his support for Ghana’s national football team and his commitment to fostering a positive environment for all national squads. His remarks reveal both his anxiousness and optimism as the team prepares for crucial matches in their World Cup qualifying campaign.
